Borax powder
Anhydrous borax is produced by gradual dehydration of borax at high temperatures. Appearance - white, odorless powder. Anhydrous borax dissolves much more slowly in water and gives off more heat than hydrated forms of borax.
Applications:
Fiberglass and glass
Anhydrous borax is used in the production of high-quality glass and ceramics. It is used as a source of B2O3 in the manufacture of various types of borosilicate glass. Such glasses include: heat-resistant and chemically resistant glasses, optical glass, medical and cosmetic containers and glass used for making glass beads. The use of Etibor-68 in glass production is preferable to other boron-containing products (borax pentahydrate and borax decahydrate), as it has high bulk density, melts faster with lower energy costs. The use of Etibor-68 allows increasing furnace productivity and reducing emissions. Etibor-68 is a source of sodium, which can be used with boric acid and boric anhydride to provide the required ratio of sodium oxide / boric anhydride. The purpose of using Etibor-68 in glass is to ensure consistency of structure. Borates are an excellent substitute for lead compounds harmful to humans in glaze compositions, especially those used in the production of tableware, as they give similar properties to finished products. Anhydrous borax is the preferred product for the production of such glazes.
Metallurgy and casting
Due to its low melting point and ability to dissolve metal oxides, anhydrous borax is widely used in smelting, soldering and welding of ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals. Borax is a flux that protects the surface of molten non-ferrous and noble metals from oxidation and ensures increased purity of metals.
Detergents and cleaning agents
Etibor-68 is used in the production of slowly dissolving cleaning agents for plumbing and household appliances. For example, in toilet bowl cleaners, slow release of borates softens water and prevents formation of calcium deposits, acts as a corrosion inhibitor and has deodorizing properties.
Refractories
Borate compositions are used as binders in the production of refractories and concreting to create a strong structure.
Oil industry
The use of borates in the oil industry is increasing due to the effectiveness of borate cross-linking agents. Etibor-68 is used to increase oil recovery from underground formations as part of cross-linkers.
