Powdered lignosulfonates
Technical types of lignosulfonate such as sodium lignosulfonates, sodium salts, lignosulfonic acid are represented by sulfo-derivatives of lignin of natural origin, possessing high solubility in an aqueous environment. As a rule, such mixtures of sodium salts are distinguished by impurities of a reducing or mineral substance in a larger volume. They are surface-active substances (SAS) of the anionic type.
Powdered lignosulfonates are used in the form of a powder with characteristic shades of color from light brown to dark brown tones. The substance containing sodium is produced in the form of a greenish powder (production marking TU 54-028-0027-9580-97). The mass fraction of dry substances in them is increased and amounts to about 65%, the part of ash in which is about 22%. The pH balance is normal and is within the range of 4.5 – 5.5. Technical powdered lignosulfonates are designated as LSTP in reference materials.
Lignosulfonates are used:
in foundry production: as a binding material for molding and core mixtures;
in the metallurgical industry: in briquetting various materials;
in the production of refractories: as a binding material in the manufacture of refractories;
in the production of technical carbon: as a binding additive in carbon granulation;
in the oil industry: as a basis for creating reagents used for treating drilling muds;
in the field of construction chemistry: as a basis for the production of various additives in concrete;
in the cement industry: as a plasticizer for cement and concrete, to increase the mobility of the concrete mixture;
in the production of chipboard, fiberboard, plywood: as a binding and adhesive substance;
in road construction: as a dust-suppressing material for treating the roadbed;
in the chemical industry: as a stabilizer, dispersant, binder in the production of briquetted plant protection products.
