Liquid glass
Sodium liquid glass is an aqueous alkaline solution of sodium silicates Na 2 O(SiO 2 ) n , which is a viscous liquid of yellow or gray color without mechanical inclusions and impurities visible to the naked eye.
The characteristic of the chemical composition of liquid glass is the silicate modulus. The modulus shows the ratio of silicon oxide to sodium oxide contained in liquid glass and characterizes the silica yield in solution.
Liquid glass is obtained by autoclave dissolution of anhydrous glassy alkaline silicate — silicate block.
In construction and other types of work, liquid glass is widely used.
Silicate glue is familiar to everyone from childhood. Before the advent of glue sticks, it was used for gluing cardboard, paper and more, and today's schoolchildren make colorful slimes from it.
Silicate glue is liquid glass — a silicon compound of potassium and/or sodium, less often lithium.
Liquid glass is widely used in various fields:
waterproofing and dust suppression in construction work;
silicate paints and antiseptic grouts for finishing work;
solutions for repair work;
wood waterproofing;
gluing of any types of materials;
protection of metal pipes from corrosion;
creation of protective coatings on various types of materials (concrete, wood, textile);
antiseptic preparation of walls for wallpaper;
protection of cut trunks in horticulture;
cleaning of various surfaces in everyday life;
decorative work.
