Graphite crucibles
Graphite crucibles are designed for melting ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals in direct heating furnaces and in induction electric furnaces in vacuum or protective atmosphere at temperatures up to 2500°C.
Graphite crucibles are usually used with melts of copper, aluminum, zinc and other metals and their alloys.
Graphite crucibles have many advantages over cast iron, steel and chamotte crucibles:
Graphite crucibles possess the unique property of non-wettability by metal melts.
In a graphite crucible, during metal melting, a very important chemical reaction occurs to remove oxygen in pure form from the metal melt, as well as to reduce metal oxides to pure metal. Thanks to this, high-quality casting with low oxygen content and a small number of pores is obtained.
During melting of steels and cast irons in a graphite crucible, the volume of carbon volatilized from the melt during melting is restored from the crucible walls.
Destruction of the graphite crucible during long-term operation does not occur instantly, as with a chamotte crucible, but over a certain period of time, which makes it possible to finish the melting without emergency shutdown of the process.
Thanks to the listed properties, graphite crucibles are beyond competition.
Graphite crucibles are made from various heat-resistant grades of graphite, which ensures their reliability and durability. And the graphite crucibles themselves can be used repeatedly with boring or grinding after each working cycle.
