Power transmission by V-belts is carried out by one or several belts. Groove profiles of pulleys for industrial installations must be made in accordance with GOST 20898-80, for stationary agricultural machines - in accordance with regulatory and technical documentation adopted in agricultural engineering. Belts are installed on pulleys manually in an unstressed state, without the use of any tools. The shafts of the transmission pulleys must be located parallel, and the pulley grooves - opposite each other. The non-parallelism of the pulley axes must not exceed 1 mm per 100 mm of length. Axial displacement of the pulley grooves is allowed no more than 2 mm per 1 m of center distance and increases by more than 0.2 mm for every 100 mm of center distance over 1 m. Pulley grooves must be clean: lubricant, solvents and other substances must not get on them. They must not be painted over. Belt tension during operation must be periodically checked and adjusted, especially during the first 48 hours of operation. When transporting and storing machines, industrial installations and stationary agricultural machines, it is recommended to loosen belt tension. When one belt fails, it is recommended to remove the entire set. The use of new belts with belts that have been in use is not allowed. Belts that have been in use are selected in separate sets.
